Historical and Royal Buildings Windsor Castle Appointed by the Royal Household Property Services division to act as designer and advisors to the design team for the restoration of the Great Kitchen complex following the devastating fire of 20th November 1992. The restoration involved all aspects of the food service operation serving The Royal Family when in residence up to memorable State Banquets, In his book, 'RESTORATION The Rebuilding of Windsor Castle', the author, Adam Nicolson enters a quote that " to many, the restoration of the Great Kitchen was the most successful part of the project". Some items reused were in excess of 150 years old whilst other historic units were incorporated for their interest. Balmoral Castle Engaged to prepare designs for the redevelopment of the kitchens whithin this historic castle which is the private residence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Once again, items of historic interest were incorporated and particularly in the basement storage areas where Victorian porcelain sinks and purpose built pine vegetable bins, worktops and weighing scales were taken into the final design. Buckingham Palace The development of The Queen's Gallery impacted the existing kitchen and presented the opportunity to totally redesign the facilities. Ken Winch, operating as Winch Associates was engaged to redesign the new kitchens which also involved the retention and incorporation of items of historic significance. The kitchen provides for all staff feeding, the requirements of The Royal Family and state Functions ranging from receptions, garden parties to State Banquets.
